Summer Hair Care tips from stylist Brandi at Brandi's Hair & Nail Salon in Alabaster:

Summer Hair care tips The best way to take care of your hair in the Southern heat is easy and affordable. You need to keep your hair moisturized and hydrated. You should ask your hairstylist which hair products are best for your hair type.

When going to the pool there are different ways to do this. You can use moisturizer on your damp hair or saturate your hair completely. If you use the conditioner you will want to dampen your hair all over and put your conditioner on and rub in well. The other will be to completely saturate your hair with water from the shower. When you do this make sure it is completely wet. When you do either of these methods you will need to reaply conditioner or saturate your hair completely with water from the shower. Never use water from the pool to wet your hair with!

Hair care for swimmersWe carry Paul Mitchell products and there are two different kinds I would recomend. The first one is The Conditioner which would be good for fine, thin hair. This hair type will soak up the conditrioner easier. The other is Instant Moisture Conditioner. This would do better on hair strands that are thicker and heavier and need more weighty conditioners. You will also be getting a good conditioning treatment while at the pool. Don't forget to use a sunscreen for your skin.

Either of these steps will alloiw your hair to soak up very little of the chlorine water and keep your hair healthier during the Summer. If you need to you can purchase Paul Mitchell Shampoo Three which will strip the chlorine out. You will need to condition your hair afterwards. You also need to moisturize your skin with a good moisturizing lotion.  Don't forget to always comb out wet hair with a wide tooth comb and never use your hair brush.
